On February 1, the 8th congress of Jiangsu Provincial Federation of Literary and Art Circles and the 7th Congress of Jiangsu Provincial Writers’ Association was held in Nanjing. Party Secretary Liang Baohua delivered a speech at the meeting, in which he called upon the vast literary and art workers to share destiny with the great motherland, be of one mind with the people and keep paces with the times so as to consciously commit themselves to the magnificent cause of creating happy lives and beautiful future for all the people in the province and to the vivid practices of building an culturally advanced province and pushing forward cultural prosperity. They are summoned to compile more excellent literary and artistic works which meet the requirements of the era and welcomed by the public, thus contributing to creating a new situation featured by prosperous development of literature and art across the province and writing a new chapter of building a culturally powerful province.

        Secretary of the leading party group and vice president of China Federation of Literary and Art Circles Hu Zhenming and Secretary of the leading party group and vice president of China Writers’ Association Li Bing were invited to attend and address the opening ceremony. Also present at the meeting were provincial leaders including Luo Zhijun, Zhang Lianzhen, Wang Guosheng, Zhao Kezhi, Lin Xiangguo, Hong Qiang, Li Yunfeng, Yang Xinli, Li Duxin, Bai Suning, Cao Weixing and Zhang Jiuhan.

        The flower-decorated Great Hall of the People of Nanjing was submersed in an atmosphere of literary and art spring. Over 1000 workers in the literary and art circles from various places across the province gathered together to mark the grand occasion of the meeting.
