On January 28, the provincial government held in Nanjing the mobilization conference on afforestation and environmental rectification along the Shanghai-Nanjing railway route. Governor Luo Zhijun attended and addressed the meeting, and he requested that all relevant municipalities and departments take immediate action according to the requirements of CPC Jiangsu Provincial Committee, Jiangsu Provincial People’s Government and the Ministry of Railway, step up related efforts and ensure that the task of afforestation and environmental rectification along the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway and the existing Shanghai-Nanjing Railway routes before May Day so as to bring credit to smooth operation of the Shanghai-Nanjing Intercity Railway and successful holding of the Shanghai World Expo. 

        Thanks to the joint efforts on the part of relevant provincial departments and various municipalities along the railway, principled opinions and plans of specific implementation of the outline of the work have already been worked out. According to the time points designated in the overall plan, all relevant municipalities will finish mobilization and arrangements before February 5, conduct comprehensive organization and implementation after the Spring Festival. Before the end of March, half of the work will be completed and most work is supposed to be finished by mid-April. In the last ten days of April, competent provincial departments will carry out acceptance work and provide rectification arrangements for moping-ups; therefore, completion of all the tasks will be secured before May Day.
